Y Sgowt is a watch born from contradiction: elegance forged through ruggedness, clarity achieved through complexity, and modernity grounded in deep tradition. At its heart lies a natural Amethyst or Lapis Lazuli dial—each one organically unique and saturated with beautiful colours. The stone is topped with multiple layers of different metallic patterns and a metal chapter ring, before being finished off with some lumicast hour markers.
The layered case design juxtaposes polished, brushed, and bead-blasted finishes, inviting light to interact dynamically with every surface. This is further carried onto the bracelet, which continues the contrasting finishes and allows for the watch to shine, regardless of the angle it is viewed from.
The glass was carefully calculated to imitate a box crystal from certain angles, despite it not having a sharp edge, which is quite easy to damage. This is achieved through the utilisation of the laws of optics and ensures a unique look of the watch. The crystal also features a multi-layer antireflective coating.
Y Sgowt is powered by a Miyota 9039 movement, known for its accuracy, reliability and slim profile. To make it more “my own”, I have decided to completely remanufacture the bridges and finish them in a previously unseen “sunray stripe pattern”, with a Welsh Dragon proudly engraved onto them. The rotor was inspired by an Ancient Roman horse bridle mount, which was unearthed near my workshop as I was in the middle of the design process.
Y Sgowt refuses to be boxed into a single category. It walks the line between field watch and dress watch—resolute yet refined—ready for both ceremony and spontaneity. This design is not about blending in; it's about being able to stand out in any situation.
All watches will be assembled and adjusted by me personally.
